Students who are enrolled in departments other than those with a compulsory preparatory program are required to take General İngilizce I-II courses in their first year. Students with sufficient knowledge of English may take the General English Exemption Exam, and if they pass, they may be exempted from these courses.
This exam applies to students in departments where the medium of instruction is entirely Turkish. It grants exemption from the Foreign Language I and II courses (Basic English I and II, or in some departments referred to as English I and II) that are taught in the first year of the curriculum. Students who have already taken and completed Foreign Language (English) I-II courses are not eligible to sit for the exemption exam.
The exemption exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and has a duration of 60 minutes. The General English Exemption Exam will be held in person on 15 September 2025 at 13:00. Attendance is not compulsory. Students who wish to take the exam must log in with their university-provided institutional e-mail accounts and complete the application form by 12 September 2025. Applications cannot be made using non-institutional e-mail addresses.
