Preparatory Program Overview

Preparatory Education is a one-year program consisting of Fall and Spring semesters.
Attendance Requirement
As specified in the relevant regulations, the mandatory overall attendance rate is 80% per academic year. Students who fail due to non-attendance may continue attending classes and participating in in-semester exams and evaluations. However, they forfeit the right to take the final or make-up (resit) exams.

Weekly Course Schedule
Weekly course hours vary according to proficiency levels (22, 20, or 18 hours per week) and are distributed as follows:
  • 19, 17, or 15 hours of Main Course
  • 3 hours of Listening & Speaking
Grading & Evaluation
Students who achieve an end-of-year grade of 60 or above successfully pass the preparatory class. The end-of-year grade* is calculated based on the following:
  • 3 Midterm Exams
  • 2 Quizzes
  • 10 Speaking Tasks
  • 5 Writing Tasks
  • 1 Final Exam
*Each item listed above contributes to the end-of-year grade at a different percentage weight.
Students who cannot take the final exam or do not obtain a sufficient grade are eligible to take the make-up (resit) exam.
